As MYP Coordinator, I am delighted to welcome you to the Middle Years Programme (MYP), a dynamic and challenging framework designed for students aged 11–16. The MYP empowers learners to develop critical thinking, creativity, and a strong sense of responsibility while preparing them to navigate an ever-changing world with confidence. Through inquiry-based learning and conceptual understanding, students make meaningful connections across disciplines and apply their knowledge to real-world contexts. Guided by the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, our students grow into effective communicators, collaborative problem-solvers, and lifelong learners. We foster a supportive environment that encourages curiosity, personal growth, and respect for diverse perspectives, while providing opportunities for meaningful service and community engagement. As a bridge between the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP), the MYP promotes both academic excellence and holistic development. Interdisciplinary learning is a unique feature of the MYP that encourages students to make connections between different subject areas. Through Interdisciplinary Units (IDUs), students bring together knowledge, concepts, and skills from two or more disciplines to gain a deeper understanding of complex issues and real-world challenges.
Service as Action is an essential component of the MYP and encourages students to apply their learning to make a positive difference in their communities. Students engage in meaningful service experiences that connect classroom learning with responsible action.
The Personal Project is the culminating experience of the MYP and is completed by students in MYP Year 5. It provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they have developed throughout the programme.
The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) offers a balanced and challenging curriculum that encourages students to develop knowledge, skills, and conceptual understanding across a wide range of disciplines. Students develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills through the study of a variety of literary and non-literary texts. The subject encourages creativity, communication, and an appreciation of language and culture.
Language Acquisition enables students to develop proficiency in an additional language while fostering intercultural understanding and global awareness. Students build confidence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Students explore history, geography, economics, and civics to understand human experiences and global issues. The subject develops inquiry, research, critical thinking, and informed decision-making skills.
Through inquiry and experimentation, students investigate the natural world and develop scientific knowledge and skills. The sciences encourage curiosity, problem-solving, and an understanding of how science impacts society.
Mathematics develops logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Students explore patterns, relationships, and real-world applications while building confidence in mathematical communication.
The Arts inspire creativity, self expression, and cultural appreciation. Through visual arts, music, drama, and other artistic forms, students develop imagination, technical skills, and confidence as creators and performers.
Physical and Health Education promotes physical wellbeing, teamwork, resilience, and healthy lifestyles. Students develop movement skills, personal fitness, and an understanding of the importance of lifelong wellbeing.
Design encourages innovation and creative problem-solving through the design cycle. Students apply practical and technological skills to create solutions that address real-world challenges while developing critical and reflective thinking.
